The voting process for the fixCleanup320 amendment is a formal on-ledger vote, which means it operates independently of the software upgrade. This separation introduces a layer of complexity, as validators must first upgrade their software to v3.2.0 and then separately vote on the amendment. This dual-step process can be confusing and time-consuming, potentially leading to slower adoption. Furthermore, the amendment's focus on security fixes and improvements for newer features like lending, vaults, and multi-purpose tokens (MPTs) may not be as immediately appealing to validators as the software upgrade itself. The lending protocol, for instance, is a relatively new feature, and validators might be more inclined to prioritize the stability and cost-cutting measures provided by the software upgrade. Ripple, the payments company behind the XRP Ledger, has already voted in favor of the fixCleanup320 amendment, emphasizing its importance. However, the voting process itself is a critical aspect that could impact the overall adoption rate. The ledger's reliance on the UNL for upgrades and amendments highlights the importance of validator engagement and understanding of the voting process. In my view, the slower adoption of the fixCleanup320 amendment is a reminder of the challenges in managing a decentralized network.
